It is like 2 weeks after my exams and indeed, this is the time to find temporary jobs to earn some spare cash and i am quite happy to say I have found one accounts related temporary job (it is on a part-time basis,4 hours work). Not too bad,at least the other half of the day I will be able to be free and do my own self-studying/exercise =D

Anyway, just settled some personal stuff before going off for an extremely hot and humid run soon.Looking forward to the run but definitely not the ridiculous weather =P

Review of 2nd Exam Paper
heart station
[info]nws_tbz
[Current Mood| hopeful]

Oh well, just a super quick recap on the exam done a few days back and my opinion of the paper.Definitely specific and vague at the same time?Due to the nature of questions,it no longer requires regurgitation of material but rather real conceptual understanding to start off with.

Questions asked in the actual paper (i could only recall some of the questions though):
1) Open-ended question asking about the type of Info system model to be used?
2) What is a client-server architecture?Remote-server application blah
3) Discuss what is a decision-making model, and its limitations from the design and implementation view of IS
4) Limitation of IS design and pitfall of all-encompassing system???
5) IS can reduce transaction costs.Critically discuss the statement with relevant examples.
6) IS can create competitive advantages.Critically discuss the statement with relevant examples.

Hopefully,i can achieve the desired grades. Now back to studying for my last 2 (hrm & audit) papers with 7 more days to go!!

[Current Mood| annoyed]

Just finished reading through my next paper on Tuesday which will be information systems & organisations (for short,it will be abbreviated as "ISORG").Last 2 papers will be on 28 & 29 may, auditing & assurance and Human Resource Management respectively o_O

This year's papers take on an approach of surprise element (read = questions that were least expected to be examined). If my memory serves me well here (i took it on 14 may though,so i only recalled the bits and pieces),these are the questions being tested:

Section A (Do one,but not more than two further questions)
Qn 1) Subprime mortgage question,
Qn 2) Tools to reduce moral hazard in debt market, delegated monitoring)
Qn 3) Chp 9-Efficient Market Hypothesis (overreaction - emprical evidence)
Qn 4) Credit risk, migration & concentration analysis, collateral & endorsement to manage credit risk.Discuss?

Section B (Do one,but not more than two further questions)
Qn 5) NPV (addivity property, calculation, hurdle rate concept)
Qn 6) CAPM (empirical evidence, calculation of Beta,
Qn 7) Chp 9-Efficient Market Hypothesis (types of efficiency, framework for informational efficiency, importance of EMH in capital budgeting & portfolio management)

Qn 8) Income Gap analysis question, market risk   (bold denotes questions attempted)

Hmm,not very cheerful eh?But at least i have attempted all parts of the compulsory 4 questions. All right, here comes the next paper in 2 days time... ISORG!!! *strangles external examiner* =P

[Current Mood| alarmed]

From my course mates' feedback for their first paper yesterday and today, the examinations administrative procedures seems to be "delayed" or rather, screwed up due to the thermal temperature scanning which caused a huge dissatisfaction among candidates  -__- Thankfully,i get to hear from their experience and will be much more better prepared mentally :P

For now, stay calm and just "look"/"observe" the questions and answer them to the point.*strangles Principles of banking & finance module* =X Too stressed out,i guess.

I had my dinner at Tampines for a change instead at bedok and was about to head for school on friday (24 apr) and i happened to see my ex-lower secondary (high school) friend,Anna [info]attitudep. For a moment,i thought i saw the wrong person since she didn't change much and i was like wondering whether it was my classmate.Fortunately,i had a "hippo" hide and decided to ask her politely for her name & reminded her gently too =P Of course,it was fun chatting with her and knowing each other's progress so far after not "bumping" into each for other for more than 6 years+?And yes,she still looks as "young" as ever (read --> she didn't change much in appearance *oops*) ^_^

Oh my,time has passed by so fast O_O In the meanwhile, most of my mock exam scripts have been reviewed already and much progress need to be done for me to achieve the grades -___-

As identified, principles of banking & finance, along with audit & assurance are my weaker points.Definitely need to put in the "smarts" and the effort to pull off the results.

First for principles of banking & finance (UOL 24)
*prays* *digs readings* =P  (topics tested)

Part 1: Financial Systems (introduction & comparison of different countries)

Part 2:Principles of Banking (Financial intermediation,Regulation & Risk Management)

Part 3:Principles of Finance (Valuation of securities --> stocks/bonds, capital budgeting techniques/investment appraisal techniques & efficient market hypothesis)

Brain Training for Runners (Matt Fitzgerald)

[Current Mood| pleased]

I managed to borrow the Brain Training for Runners book in the local community library and i have to say,it is quite a thick running book =P To sum it up,the book is split into two parts. The first half gives the theories behind the concept and a lot of practical ideas on how to train. My favourite is about core strengthening which is recently given the emphasis. Not only does the author explain very well why core training is important for runners, but he also describes four sets of exercises, and the accompanying photos make them perfectly clear. Other relevant chapters deal with recovery and injuries.

There is a quick summary (weblink here) of this book in this blog review of this book, but of course,it is better to read through the book as it is loaded with contents ^_^ I just managed to finished reviewing some of the chapters of the book.I will update the chapters link once i am done with the book ^_^

Actually,i am not sure whether to feel very annoyed/amused/pissed at this comment by a jogger who goes to a trail area for regular runs >_> For goodness sake,it is a trail area, (a natural reserve area) NOT a concrete/tarmac pavement where the path is smooth and no water puddles are seen.If a clean running path is wanted,go and run at a stadium track/treadmill instead!

Some people just don't get it O_O Before i forget, link is found here!

I was reading through the POSE running techniques archive of articles and found these relevant note on selecting a running shoe (not advisable for people who are ingrained with the fact that more cushioning is ideal).Dr Romanov has explained it pretty well and convincingly.

This is fast,a new month has come and a few more weeks to go before my actual exams!!

Just received a letter from the government to turn up for a military mobilization briefing tomorrow for half a day x_X Oh well, let's see what they have for us to do then (although it is a bit time-wasting ) and the biggest obstacle is to waking up a bit early since it has been a long time since i wake up in the early morning

Well,I need to get back to maintaining my fitness level (instead of just plain running) for my coming physical fitness test which must be done by my birthday (a few more weeks).

[Current Mood| curious]

I went for the Career & Education exhibition 2009 yesterday which was held in Suntec Convention Centre from 5-8 March. It was pretty packed with people and i went around attending some of the seminar talks related to job hunting skills (ok,you people must be thinking i must be quite desperate to do so,but hey,it is good to prepare early =P).

On top of that,i went to do a free career profile by PEAKS™ (Research Communication International) Not too bad,i have a PDF file which has quite a detailed explanation based on my "PEAKS" (Purpose,Energy,Affirmation,Knowledge & Sustainability). After the visit to the career exhibition,i went for my long overdue blood donation at Health Science Authority (HSA @ BloodBank) hehe

If anyone is interested in my 12 pages report, drop your comment here & i will upload upon request ^_^

Two more mock examinations: Auditing & Assurance and Principles of Banking & Finance and i will need to proceed with the next stage of revision for the actual examinations in May >_>

Sometimes i wonder whether our Straits Times Online Media Portal (aka STOMP) did their "quality control" properly when reviewing individual submissions of their "news".Apparently, this is one absurd submission over the portion of the chicken rice packet?

Really,i can only say that this person has yet to see chicken rice packets priced much more expensively which this particular store is offering at an affordable price and a reasonable portion

Anyhow,i am thinking over which mood icons to use.I am stuck between Toy Story,Duck Tales or Tintin. It is time for a change of my usual 101 Dalmatians icons (which is good but we need some change at times ^_^)
